About this
Pizzazzerie shares a step-by-step look at styling a chic black-and-white Halloween dinner party tablescape. The post covers the table linens and dishware, candlelit centerpiece, plate toppers, bar cart setup, and glow-in-the-dark ghost decor that comes alive after sunset. It also includes a shoppable source list for every item used, plus a graphic inspiration board. A follow-up link points readers to a more recently updated black-and-white Halloween dinner party.
The plan
- Choose a black and white color scheme for a chic alternative to the traditional orange and black
- Pull out candlestick holders and stock up on black and white tapered candles
- Layer black dinner plates under simple striped salad plates
- Pick up Halloween-themed die-cuts (like spider webs) from the craft store paper/scrapbook aisle to use as plate toppers
- Set the table with black wine glasses instead of the everyday clear ones
- Shop the full source list: black wine glasses, glowing ghosts, white ceramic pumpkins, black dinner plates, spider web decoration, black spiders, black tablecloth, black candles, white candles, glass candlestick holders, brass bar cart, and an optional black & white striped table runner
Decoration ideas
- Black tablecloth as the base (a white tablecloth would also work)
- Candlestick holders holding black and white tapered candles
- Black dinner plates topped with a simple striped salad plate
- Halloween-themed die-cuts such as spider webs placed on each plate as toppers
- Black wine glasses for spooky elegance (also available in stemless, goblets, flutes, and martinis)
- Chic white ceramic pumpkins displayed directly on the table and elevated on candle holders
- Decorative spider web plus a craft-store spider hanging from the chandelier
- Spider web decoration used on the mirror and front door as well
- Brass bar cart with a statement shape holding all the evening's spirits
- Glowing ghosts placed around the room to cast a ghastly glow after sunset
- Black & white striped table runner as another idea
Food & drink
- Sparkling red wine
- A variety of "fangtastic" cocktails
- All spirits displayed on the brass bar cart for the evening
Activities
- Invite friends over for a spooky Halloween dinner party
- Display the glowing ghosts down the stairs throughout the season
- Set the glowing ghosts out on the front steps on Halloween night
