These fun ghost cookies require just a few simple ingredients like cake mix, pudding, eggs, oil, and water. By dividing the batter and adding black food coloring, you can create charming ghost shapes that are baked to perfection and decorated with white frosting for a festive treat.

Equipment

  • large bowl
  • cookie sheets
  • piping bag

Directions

  1. Turn your oven on to 350°F (175°C) and lightly coat your baking trays with nonstick spray.
  2. In a big mixing bowl, whisk together the cake mix, instant pudding powder, eggs, oil, and water until the mixture is smooth and uniform.
  3. Split the batter evenly into two separate bowls. Stir black food coloring into one portion until it turns a deep, solid color.
  4. Shape the plain batter into tiny spheres and arrange them on your prepared trays. Then, roll the colored portion into even tinier balls.
  5. Gently press one small dark sphere onto the top of each light sphere to create the ghost's head, making sure they stick together.
  6. Bake the cookies for 10 to 12 minutes, watching until the outer edges just start to turn a light golden brown. Let them cool down entirely.
  7. Use a piping bag or a small spoon to draw spooky eyes and a mouth on the cooled cookies with the white frosting.
