Directions
- Locate a cardboard box that fits the person wearing the costume. Ideally, the box should be the right size for their body, but you can also use flat cardboard to construct a box or make a sandwich-board style costume.
- Cut openings for the head and arms. The head hole should be large enough for the head to pass through but not so wide that it slides off the shoulders. Make the arm holes tall to allow plenty of movement. Trim any extra length from the box so it ends above the knee for easy walking.
- Attach circular pieces to the front of the box. Use spray paint can lids, or alternatives like sliced pool noodle, cardboard tubes with cardstock circles, or disposable paper bowls. Apply hot glue around the bottom of each circle and press them onto the box.
- Spray paint the costume in a well-ventilated area using multiple light coats to prevent drips and speed up drying. Apply three coats, then leave the box outside to dry and cure until the paint smell fades. You can use a hair dryer on hot setting to help cure the paint.
