This DIY superhero costume combines everyday clothing with handmade accessories. You'll craft a layered pleather logo for the cape and shirt, and cover a foam mask with green pleather. The cape is sewn with a simple casing for a lanyard cord closure.
You'll need
Directions
- Design your superhero logo using an online tool like PicMonkey or Canva. Print the logo to serve as a template, then trace it onto pleather and cut out two identical pieces. Glue the two pleather logos together to create a layered emblem.
- Have the child turn around and use a measuring tape to determine the desired cape length. Lay the cape fabric on the ground and cut it into a cape shape. Fold over the top edge, stitch it closed but leave the ends open so you can thread the lanyard cord through. Glue the layered logo from step 1 to the back of the cape, then set it aside to dry.
- Glue the second logo (made in step 1) to the front of the plain T-shirt.
- Place the black foam mask on paper, trace around it, then cut out the paper shape reduced by at least 5 mm on all sides. Use this smaller paper template to cut a piece of green pleather. Glue the green pleather over the top of the black foam mask.
