About this
A recap of a Halloween party that was thrown together in only a few days while the host worked two 10-hour shifts leading up to Halloween and a 6-hour shift on the day itself. Most of the food repeated the previous year's party, with new additions such as a bloody hand made from cream cheese and chipolte sauce, gummy tongues from Target, and crappy cupcakes that looked like dog poop with flies. The page shares a failed experiment with freezing cream cheese, mentions the 2014 family zombie photo, and notes that next year's theme will be Breakfast it bed.
The plan
- a few days — Throw the party together quickly over just a few days
- leading up to Halloween and Halloween day — Work two 10-hour shifts in the run-up to Halloween and a 6-hour shift on Halloween itself
- Repeat most of the previous year's Halloween party food, with only a couple of changes, because there was no time to do more
- Make the bloody hand by putting cream cheese in a mold purchased at Wal-mart and freezing it
- Serve the bloody hand as a cream cheese hand covered with chipolte sauce, with crackers
- Pop the frozen hand from the mold and store it in a zip-lock bag in the fridge (the trial-and-error experiment turned out to be an error)
- Avoid freezing cream cheese in future: freezing changes its consistency from creamy to crumbly
- next year — Try the bloody hand again next year by molding the cream cheese, working it out, and smoothing it by hand instead of freezing
- next year — Plan for next year's party
Decoration ideas
- Little tags on the party treats said, "Thank you for coming"; EASY PEASY!
- 2014 FAMILY ZOMBIE PHOTO
Food & drink
- Goblin juice (colored lemonade)
- Monster fuel (beer)
- Boogers as the party treat for coming
- Bloody hand (cream cheese with chipolte sauce) with crackers
- Tongues (gummies), found at Target; almost every kid went crazy for them and they produced many awesome pics
- Crappy cupcakes (looked like dog poop with flies)
- Pumpkin vomit (always a hit; the girls were not sure about trying it)
Activities
- Tell guests, "Try my crappy cupcakes" and "They look like crap"
- Take photos of the party, especially the kids enjoying the gummy tongues
