Start with a classic peanut butter cookie base, then shape into spooky spiders. After baking, add a milk dud body, candy eyes, and chocolate legs for a fun Halloween treat.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  2. In a large bowl, beat together 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 cup packed brown sugar, 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter, 1/2 cup softened butter, and 1 egg with an electric mixer on medium speed (or stir by hand) until well blended. Mix in 1.5 cups flour, 3/4 teaspoon baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon baking powder until a dough forms.
  3. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls, then roll each ball in extra granulated sugar. Place them 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  4. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until the edges are browned. Use a small spoon to press an indent into the center of each cookie. Let cool on a wire rack.
  5. Once completely cool, pipe a small amount of melted chocolate into the center indent. Press a milk dud (whopper ball) onto the chocolate. Use more melted chocolate to attach two candy eyes and draw eight legs radiating from the body.
  6. Let the chocolate harden and cool completely before enjoying.
