This pumpkin pie French toast combines the warm spices of pumpkin pie with the comfort of French toast. Simply dip thick bread slices into a pumpkin custard and cook until golden. Serve with real maple syrup for a festive fall breakfast.
Ingredients
Directions
- In a shallow dish like a pie plate, whisk together 2 large eggs, 1/3 cup pumpkin puree, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1/8 teaspoon ground clove, 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract, 1/2 cup whole milk, a dash of salt, and 1-1/2 tablespoons brown sugar until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Heat a griddle or skillet over medium heat. One at a time, dip slices of bread (about 1/2 to 3/4-inch thick white or country loaf) into the custard, letting them soak for about 5 seconds on each side. Allow excess liquid to drip off.
- Butter the hot griddle and cook the dipped bread until golden brown on both sides. Repeat with remaining bread slices and custard. Serve with real maple syrup.
