Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at handletheheat.com.
This Halloween charcuterie board combines savory cheeses, cured meats, fresh fruits, and spooky sweets like spiderweb brownies and ghost Peeps. Arrange everything on a large board, filling gaps with nuts and candies, then add rosemary and creepy decorations for a festive centerpiece. Serve immediately or refrigerate briefly before your Halloween gathering.
Ingredients
Directions
- Take the cold Brie and press a pumpkin-shaped cookie cutter into the center to cut out a pumpkin shape. Place both the cut-out and the remaining Brie ring on the board, then spoon orange marmalade into the hollow pumpkin shape.
- Add all the baked treats to the board. For cookies and brownies that stack well, overlap them in a slightly circular or zigzag pattern.
- Set out two small ramekins on the board. Fill one with drained cornichons and the other with whole grain mustard.
- Arrange the sliced cheeses (cheddar, Gouda) in overlapping semi-circles or rounded patterns around the larger items already placed. Then scatter any cubed cheese in small mounds.
- Place the meats on the board, trying to keep them away from the sweet items. Overlap folded salami slices and stacked salami logs, and pile the rolled prosciutto into a small pyramid.
- Arrange the crackers around the board, overlapping them and positioning them near the other larger items.
- Place the sliced apple, pear, plums or apricots, and whole blackberries and cherries on the board, stacking or overlapping as needed.
- Fill any remaining gaps with pistachios, caramel corn, candy corn, black licorice, googly eye chocolate balls, and ghost Peeps so the entire board is covered and colors and textures are balanced.
- Finish by tucking a few sprigs of fresh rosemary or thyme into the board and adding any Halloween decorations like plastic spiders, a skeleton hand, or paper bats on top of the food.
- Serve the board right away, or cover it and refrigerate for no more than a few hours before serving.
