Shimmering Halloween Apple Cider Punch

This Halloween punch combines apple juice, blackberry preserves, and spices into a deep black base, then gets a magical shimmer from edible gold dust. Served with ginger ale and optional dry ice, it creates a spooky, bubbling effect perfect for parties.

- In a saucepan, mix together 4 cups of apple juice, 3 tablespoons of blackberry preserves, and 3 tablespoons of brown sugar.
- Add black gel food coloring ⅛ teaspoon at a time, stirring until the liquid turns a deep black hue.
- Drop in 1 cinnamon stick, 1 star anise, and 2 teaspoons of whole cloves. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat, cover, and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
- Take the saucepan off the heat and refrigerate the mixture until it is completely chilled.
- When ready to serve, fill a glass about one-quarter full with the chilled black apple cider. Sprinkle in a pinch of edible gold shimmer dust, then top off the glass with chilled ginger ale. If using dry ice, leave enough room for the drink to bubble up without overflowing.
