Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at thesoccermomblog.com.
These Halloween cookies are baked with chocolate dough and colorful M&M's, then injected with bright green frosting for a slimy surprise. The frosting is softened and colored neon green, then piped into each cookie using a flavor injector until the top cracks open.
Ingredients
Directions
- Set your oven to 350°F.
- Cover a cookie sheet with parchment paper or a non-stick silicone baking mat.
- Sort the M&M's by color (green, orange, purple) into a small bowl.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
- In another bowl, beat the butter, sugar, and brown sugar with an electric mixer until creamy.
- Add the eggs and vanilla to the butter mixture and continue mixing.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until fully combined.
- Stir about half of the M&M's into the cookie dough.
- Shape the dough into balls roughly 2 inches in size.
- Press the remaining M&M's into the top of each dough ball.
- Bake for 9 to 11 minutes. Let the cookies cool on the sheet for a few minutes, then move them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Put the frosting in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 15 seconds to soften it.
- Mix in a few drops of green gel food coloring until the frosting turns bright green.
- Insert the needle of a flavor injector into the frosting and pull the plunger up to fill it.
- Poke the side of a cookie with the injector and squeeze in frosting until the top of the cookie cracks.
- Repeat the injection process for all cookies.
