Create a festive Halloween breakfast by cutting bread with cookie cutters and cooking eggs inside. Add cheese, meat, and seasonings for a savory sandwich. The cut-out shapes toast up perfectly for dipping into runny yolks.
Ingredients
Directions
- Get your bread slices and Halloween cookie cutters.
- Take a cookie cutter and press it into the center of each bread slice, wiggling it gently to cut through completely.
- I prepared all the bread at once for three sandwiches. Save the cut-out shapes; they're great for dipping in egg yolk.
- In a skillet, melt some butter over medium heat.
- Put two bread slices and their corresponding cut-out pieces into the skillet.
- Carefully crack one egg into each of the holes in the bread.
- Season the bread and eggs with salt, pepper, and garlic powder (or your preferred spices). Garlic powder adds a nice garlic toast flavor.
- Keep an eye on the cut-out shapes because they toast quicker than the bread with egg. Flip them sooner than you flip the main slices.
- After about three minutes, flip the eggs in a basket. I prefer runny yolks so the egg pours over the bread when cut, and I can mop it up with the toasted cut-outs.
- Season the other side of the bread slices and the cut-out pieces.
- Place a slice of cheese and your chosen meat (like bacon, ham, or sausage) on each bread slice. I used quick microwave bacon to save time.
- Press the two slices together to make a sandwich and cook for a few additional seconds on each side until the bread is nicely toasted.
- Move your spooky Halloween sandwich to a plate and savor it!
