Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at thesoccermomblog.com.
These spooky slime cookies are made from a glossy green meringue, piped into gooey dollops and baked low and slow. Once cooled, edible eyes are attached with leftover meringue for a fun, creepy effect. Perfect for Halloween parties or a frightfully sweet snack.
Ingredients
Directions
- Set your oven to 225°F to preheat.
- In a stand mixer, put the egg whites and cream of tartar. Beat until the mixture becomes frothy.
- Keep mixing on medium-low speed while gradually adding the sugars, alternating between granulated and powdered, one tablespoon at a time. Make sure the last tablespoon you add is powdered sugar.
- Continue beating until stiff peaks form.
- Add leaf green gel food coloring one or two drops at a time, mixing until you reach the green shade you like.
- Transfer the meringue to a piping bag and pipe dollops on top of each other to create slime shapes.
- Set aside some leftover meringue to use later as glue for the edible eyes.
- Bake the cookies at 225°F for 1 hour and 25 minutes.
- After baking, take the slime monsters out of the oven and let them cool until safe to handle. Use the reserved meringue to stick edible eyes onto the cookies.
