These Zombie Breakfast Rolls are a spooky twist on classic cinnamon rolls, shaped to look like tangled intestines and baked with a bloody red and blue icing. Perfect for Halloween morning, they combine sweet cinnamon-sugar filling with a creamy, gory glaze that will delight and disturb your guests in equal measure.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, stir together the white sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon until combined. Open one can of jumbo crescent rolls and unroll it onto a cutting board. Press the perforated lines with your fingers to seal them, creating one solid rectangle. Brush the dough generously with melted butter, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the surface. Drizzle a little more butter on top, then roll the dough up lengthwise. Repeat this process for all three cans. After each roll is formed, cut it in half lengthwise to create smaller rolls that resemble small intestines.
  2. Arrange both the large and small rolls in a baking pan, twisting and bending them around each other to mimic tangled intestines. Add 2 drops of red food coloring and 1 drop of blue food coloring to the remaining melted butter, then brush this mixture over the top of each roll. Bake at 375°F for 25 minutes.
  3. While the cinnamon rolls bake, prepare the icing. In a mixer, combine the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk. Mix until smooth and thick, adding more milk if needed to reach a spreadable consistency. Add a generous amount of red food coloring until the icing looks like blood. Once the rolls are done, use a spatula to coat them thoroughly with the red icing, making sure to work it into all the crevices. Then, add 1 drop of blue food coloring to the remaining icing and spread this darker icing on top to create depth. Serve these ghoulish breakfast rolls to your zombie guests!
