Halloween movies on Prime Video, and most aren’t for kids.
Midsommar, Hereditary and The Witch set the tone, with Over the Garden Wall and Charmed for gentler nights and Nosferatu and Frankenstein for classic monsters. Sorted most-watched first.
These are the Halloween movies on Prime Video that come included with a Prime membership, so no rentals and no purchases. We re-checked the shelf on October 5, 2026, but streaming shelves change, so the live where-to-watch links on each card have the final word. The 25 titles run most-watched first, which shows what people actually press play on, not which ones are best.
Fair warning: this is mostly hard horror, so treat it as a grown-up list. A24 films like Midsommar and Hereditary, slashers and Terrifier take up plenty of room, and nearly everything is marked scary or terrifying. The gentlest picks are Over the Garden Wall, a mildly spooky animated miniseries, and Charmed, a witchy drama with more banter than gore. Classic monsters are here too, from Nosferatu and Frankenstein to An American Werewolf in London, and six of the 25 are TV series.

01
Supernatural
Two brothers in a classic Chevy hunt ghosts, vampires, werewolves and demons, often a fresh monster every episode. It makes easy Halloween snacking, with a very long run waiting if you get hooked, but it is too scary for younger kids.

03
Hereditary
Grief is the engine here: a family is haunted by tragic, disturbing events while Toni Collette anchors a slow, relentless build of dread. It is heavy, upsetting and not for kids, so save it for a night when you want to feel wrung out.

05
American Horror Story
Every season is a fresh story with new characters and a new setting, from a haunted house to an asylum to a coven of witches, so start with whichever sounds like your October. Lurid, gory and strictly for adults.

07
Let the Right One In
Bullied and lonely, a boy befriends the peculiar girl next door, and her secret is that she is a vampire. This snowbound Swedish film is tender and brutal in equal measure, so expect subtitles, sudden violence and a grown-up audience.

09
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre
Five friends heading to a grandfather’s grave in rural Texas stumble across a house that is not as deserted as it looks, and meet Leatherface. Grimy, low-budget and relentless, it leans on nerves more than blood and is for grown-ups only.

12
Hellraiser
One puzzle box opens a doorway to hell, Pinhead and his demons come through, and a family home becomes the stage for something gruesome. Clive Barker’s body-horror landmark is strange and very adult, so keep it well away from younger viewers.
-
13
An American Werewolf in London
On a walking tour of Britain, two American students are attacked by a werewolf that the locals insist does not exist. John Landis mixes laughs and scares, and the transformation scene is still a practical-effects showpiece, though it is not for kids.
-
14
Bates Motel
Psycho’s Norman Bates as a teenager, living at the motel his mother buys and tangled up in a dangerously close bond with her. Freddie Highmore and Vera Farmiga make it a tense, psychological drama, more unsettling than gory and not for little kids.

16
Halloween II
The only title here with the holiday in its name, it picks up the same night as the first film, with Laurie rushed to the hospital and Michael Myers closing in. Best watched right after the original, and not for kids.
-
17
House of 1000 Corpses
Rob Zombie’s directorial debut sends two young couples hunting murder legends in the Texas backwoods, and they end up prisoners of the Firefly family. Loud, garish and extremely gory, it is for adults who like their horror trashy and nobody else.

20
The Fog
When a supernatural fog rolls into a seaside town, the victims of an old shipwreck rise seeking vengeance. John Carpenter keeps it moody and old-fashioned, a campfire ghost story more restrained than most of this shelf, but still not for little kids.
-
21
Over the Garden Wall
Lost in a strange, autumn-colored land, two brothers try to get home with a talking bluebird and plenty of old-timey songs for company. Funny, beautiful and only mildly spooky, it is the gentlest pick here, and short enough for one sitting.
-
22

23
Frankenstein
Henry Frankenstein is obsessed with building a man from exhumed corpses, and Boris Karloff’s Monster, still the face most people picture, is the result. Short, stylish and old-school scary, with a creature you may end up pitying.
-
24
Creep
A videographer takes a one-day job filming a dying stranger’s last messages, then starts to question the man’s odd behavior. Mark Duplass, as the stranger, keeps this found-footage film hovering between awkward comedy and real dread, and it is not for kids.
-
25
Ash vs Evil Dead
Bruce Campbell is back as Ash, three decades older and still dodging responsibility, armed with a chainsaw hand and a shotgun when a Deadite plague threatens everyone. Splattery slapstick that is very funny and very gory, for grown-ups only.
The crowd’s favorites and the family’s favorites are rarely the same list, so read the scare level before you hand over the remote.
Stack them by mood. For a gentle night, run Over the Garden Wall front to back and add a couple of Charmed episodes. For old-school monsters, go Nosferatu, then Frankenstein, then An American Werewolf in London. For a full grown-up night, give Hereditary or Midsommar the whole evening, because neither leaves you in the mood for a second feature. The live links on each card confirm what is available before you commit, and the full Fieldguide watchlist has plenty more when you run out.
