Ingredients

Directions

  1. Mix softened cream cheese, shredded sharp cheddar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  2. Chill the mixture for 15–20 minutes to make it easier to shape.
  3. Use a mini cookie scoop to portion the mixture, then roll into balls.
  4. Roll each ball in finely shredded cheddar to create a bright orange pumpkin look.
  5. Press a short piece of pretzel stick into the top of each ball for a stem.
  6. Add a tiny jack-o'-lantern face using black sesame seeds for eyes and a smile.
  7. Refrigerate until serving to keep them firm on the snack board.
  8. Pat mozzarella balls dry so decorations adhere better.
  9. Use a toothpick to dab a dot of balsamic glaze on each mozzarella ball, then press on black sesame seeds to form an iris.
  10. Thread each skewer with a grape tomato, a basil leaf, and an eyeball mozzarella ball.
  11. Arrange on a platter, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt.
  12. Finish with extra balsamic glaze just before serving for a spooky drippy effect.
  13. Set out a cutting board and unwrap the string cheese.
  14. Cut each cheese stick in half to make 24 broom heads.
  15. On one end of each piece, make thin vertical cuts with a paring knife (don't cut all the way through) to create bristles.
  16. Insert a pretzel rod into the uncut end of each cheese piece.
  17. Tie a tiny strand of chives around the top of the bristles to look like a broom binding, or use a thin strip of ham.
  18. Serve cold or keep chilled until party time so the brooms stay firm.
  19. Scoop avocados into a bowl and mash with a potato masher until mostly smooth.
  20. Stir in lime juice, diced red onion, diced tomato, salt, and garlic powder.
  21. Spoon the guacamole into mini cups and smooth the tops with a spoon.
  22. Make monster eyes by pressing black olive slices into the top, then adding candy eyeballs in the center.
  23. Set each cup next to tortilla chips or tuck a few chips into the cup like monster teeth.
  24. Refrigerate until serving to keep the guacamole fresh and bright green.
  25. Hard-boil eggs, cool in ice water, peel, and slice in half lengthwise.
  26. Scoop yolks into a bowl, mash until smooth, then mix in mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, and salt.
  27. Spoon the filling into a piping bag and pipe neatly into the egg whites.
  28. Slice black olives in half for spider bodies, then cut thin strips for legs.
  29. Place one olive half on each egg as the spider body, then tuck 4 leg strips on each side.
  30. Finish with a dusting of paprika and arrange on a deviled egg tray.
  31. Preheat oven to 375°F and set out a sheet pan.
  32. Unroll crescent dough and cut each triangle into 3 thin strips.
  33. Wrap dough strips around each cocktail sausage to look like finger wraps, leaving one end exposed.
  34. Press a sliced almond onto the exposed end for a fingernail, using a dab of dough to help it stick.
  35. Whisk egg and brush lightly over the dough with a pastry brush.
  36. Bake until golden, then add a small dot of ketchup at the cut end for a silly spooky look.
  37. Serve warm with extra ketchup or mustard for dipping.
  38. Spread refried beans into an even layer on a large platter.
  39. Mix sour cream with taco seasoning, then spread over the beans.
  40. Layer guacamole and salsa in spooky patches instead of perfect lines for a haunted ground texture.
  41. Sprinkle shredded cheddar across the top, then scatter black olives like little stones.
  42. Write 'RIP' on shortbread cookies with a food marker and stick them into the dip like tombstones.
  43. Serve with tortilla chips around the edges for easy scooping.
  44. Preheat oven to 375°F and lightly grease a mini muffin pan.
  45. Use a round cutter to cut circles from flour tortillas, then press each into a muffin cup.
  46. Bake tortilla cups for 8–10 minutes until lightly crisp, then set aside.
  47. Brown ground beef, drain, then stir in taco seasoning and water until thick.
  48. Spoon beef into each cup, sprinkle with cheddar, and return to oven for 3–4 minutes to melt.
  49. Stir orange cheese powder into sour cream to make a pumpkin topping, then dollop onto each cup.
