These three DIY pumpkin-themed yard games are simple to set up and guarantee hours of outdoor fun. From tic-tac-toe with mini pumpkins to a tin can toss and a pumpkin pong challenge, each game uses inexpensive materials and festive decorations. Perfect for Halloween parties or autumn gatherings.

Directions

  1. For Pumpkin Tic-Tac-Toe, create a 9-square grid on your driveway or patio using decorative duct tape. Ensure lines are straight and evenly spaced by using a straightedge. Small pumpkins, either real or fake, in orange and white serve as the two teams' markers.
  2. For Jack-o'-Lantern Tin Can Toss, gather 10 tin cans of the same size. Cut 10 pieces of glittery orange cardstock to match each can's height and circumference, using scissors or a paper trimmer. Optionally, swap a few with regular orange construction paper for variety. Glue the paper around each can with hot glue. Then, cut jack-o'-lantern faces from black construction paper and attach them to the cans with hot glue. Arrange a pyramid of cans on top of stacked hay bales. Players toss orange and black bean bags to try knocking down all cans.
  3. For Pumpkin Pong, arrange 10 inexpensive candy buckets in a triangular formation on the ground. Add rocks or sand to each bucket to keep them stable. Players stand roughly 6 feet from the nearest bucket and take turns tossing a Ping-Pong ball into the buckets; each successful throw allows removal of one bucket. The winner is the one who collects the most buckets. For variety, challenge players to hit every bucket in sequence or assign point values to different buckets.
