You'll need

Directions

  1. Collect all necessary items: pumpkins (real or fake), different paint types, brushes, tape, stencils, sealant, and decorations like glitter, googly eyes, pompoms, etc.
  2. Wash the pumpkin surface and let it dry completely. If you want your colors to be more vibrant, apply a primer before painting.
  3. Add an overall base coat, or use painter's tape to create separate areas for geometric patterns, stripes, or color-blocking.
  4. Create your chosen design: polka dots, rainbows, superhero logos, animal faces, glow-in-the-dark effects, monsters, ice cream cones, fruit themes, princesses, emojis, chalkboard messages, gold-dipped bottoms, floral patterns, watercolor blends, monograms, glitter accents, minimalist black and white patterns, buffalo plaid, boho patterns, Day of the Dead motifs, drip paint, galaxy swirls, vintage Halloween motifs, mandalas, splatter paint, metallic stripes, silhouettes, or lace stencils.
  5. Attach extra embellishments such as googly eyes, pompoms, feathers, beads, or ribbons if you'd like.
  6. Brush or spray on a clear acrylic sealant or Mod Podge over the painted pumpkin to keep the paint from peeling or fading and to keep decorations secure.
