Turn old clothes and trash bags into a spooky body bag corpse for your Halloween yard display.
Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at craftibilities.com.
This DIY project teaches you to make a realistic dead body from worn clothes, newspaper, and two large trash bags. Stuff the clothes, add a plastic‑jug head, then encase the form in trash bags and secure with packing tape for a creepy Halloween decoration.
You'll need
Directions
- Select old clothes that are too stained or worn to donate—these will form the body of your victim.
- Fill the clothing with crumpled newspapers and mailer ads to give it bulk and shape.
- Secure the front, back, and sides of the stuffed clothes using safety pins so the filling stays in place.
- For the head, repurpose an old plastic container or a milk jug. Pad it with newspaper, then attach it to the body with tape. Fold the shirt collar up over the head and tape it firmly to hide the joint.
- Tape the arms down against the body so they don't flop around before you put the bag on.
- Take two HDX Extra Large Trash Bags. Overlap them end‑to‑end and shape the area where the neck tape will go.
- Starting at the top, wrap packing tape tightly around the neck, chest, waist, thighs, and ankles. You can use fewer tape bands if you prefer.
- Be sure to tape over the spot where the upper bag ends so the seam between the two bags is not visible.
