Brownie Bottom Halloween Cupcakes

These festive cupcakes feature a rich brownie base topped with bright orange cake. Made from scratch brownie batter and a boxed white cake mix dyed orange, they bake up in about 20 minutes. Finish with buttercream and sprinkles for a crowd-pleasing Halloween dessert.

- Set the oven to 350°F and place liners in 24 cupcake wells.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 cup sugar, ½ cup flour, ⅓ cup Hershey's Special Dark cocoa powder, ½ teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon baking powder.
- In a large liquid measuring cup, combine ⅓ cup vegetable oil, 2 large eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat with a fork until blended.
- Pour the oil mixture into the dry ingredients and stir with a spatula just until combined; set aside.
- In another large bowl, prepare the 15.25 ounce white cake mix according to package directions, then stir in orange food coloring until the desired shade is reached.
- Drop about 2 teaspoons (a small cookie scoop) of brownie batter into the bottom of each liner.
- Top each with about 1.5 tablespoons (a medium cookie scoop) of orange cake batter.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool completely, then frost with buttercream and add sprinkles.
- Serve and enjoy these spooky treats!
