Whisk up a batch of chocolate orange cupcakes with a dark and vibrant two-toned buttercream swirl. The combination of rich cocoa, citrus zest, and festive colors makes them a standout dessert for Halloween celebrations.
Ingredients
Directions
- Beat 175g of butter and 175g of granulated sugar together in a mixing bowl until the mixture becomes light and fluffy, turning a pale white color.
- Add the two eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in 2 teaspoons of water, 1 teaspoon of orange extract, and the optional half zest of an orange.
- Gradually sift in 150g of self-raising flour and 25g of cocoa powder, adding about 50g at a time, and mix until the batter is smooth.
- Spoon the batter into your cupcake liners (black space-themed ones work great) and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20 minutes.
- For the frosting, prepare two batches of buttercream, coloring one black and the other orange. Fill a piping bag with both colors side by side, then swirl onto the cooled cupcakes.
