Hammer small nails into the pumpkin skin around the outline you plan to fill with string. Secure the embroidery string to one nail to begin.

Thread the string between nails, using only one color at a time. When you’re ready to switch colors, snip the string and tie it off on a nail, then knot a new color onto another nail and continue.
