Create a colorful Halloween decoration by gluing crayons to a white pumpkin and melting them with a blow dryer. The wax drips down in rainbow patterns, and you can add more crayons for extra color. It’s a messy but rewarding DIY project for autumn.
You'll need
Directions
- Choose a white pumpkin so the melted crayon colors stand out vividly.
- Pick the crayon colors you want to use for your design.
- Remove the paper wrappers from each crayon.
- Speed up the peeling by making a single cut along the paper with a craft knife.
- Attach the crayons to the pumpkin using clear tacky glue.
- Have your blow dryer or heat gun turned on and heated up.
- Aim the hot air at the crayons until they begin to drip.
- Lay down a drop cloth or newspaper to catch the melting wax mess.
- Tilt the blow dryer at various angles to make the wax spread sideways rather than just dripping straight down; then let everything cool and harden.
- For areas that need more color, glue on another crayon and melt it with the blow dryer again.
