DIY Halloween Pumpkin Planter

This DIY project transforms a plain basket into a festive Halloween planter. Paint the basket orange, attach a foam jack-o'-lantern face, and add a potted plant with wheat stems for a pumpkin stem. Finish with twinkling lights for a warm evening glow.

Give the basket a coat of orange paint—kids love helping with this task.

Trim the wheat stems or sticks so they rise just above your flowers.

Secure the stems or sticks to a wooden dowel with ribbon, leaving a couple inches of dowel exposed below the stems.

Insert the dowel into the center of the potted plant, adjusting the bow to sit at flower height so the stems or sticks peak above the blooms.

Cut a jack-o'-lantern face from black craft foam.

Attach the foam face to the basket using hot glue.

Twine small lights up the pumpkin's stem and spread extra lights around the flowers.

Switch on the lights at dusk and admire your handmade fall decoration.
