These Halloween mummy jalapeño poppers combine spicy peppers with creamy cheese, wrapped in crescent dough strips. Candy googly eyes give them a fun, festive look. They bake in just 15 minutes and are best served warm.
Ingredients
Directions
- Set your oven to 400°F. Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Slice the jalapeños in half lengthwise. Carefully scoop out the seeds and ribs, leaving the stems attached if possible. Discard the seeds and ribs.
- In a small bowl, stir together the softened cream cheese, pepper jack cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Fill each jalapeño half with the cheese mixture. Be careful not to overfill, as the cheese might leak out during baking.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough, keeping the triangles together, and pinch the perforations to seal. Cut the dough into thin strips about 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide. Wrap one or two strips around each pepper half, leaving an open area at the top for the eyes.
- Make an egg wash by whisking the beaten egg with about 1 tablespoon of water. Arrange the mummies on the baking sheet and lightly brush each one with the egg wash.
- Bake for roughly 15 minutes, until the mummies turn golden brown. Take them out of the oven and press candy googly eyes into the melted cheese.
- Serve right away and enjoy these fun Halloween treats!
