These mummy cake pops start with cream-filled vanilla snack cakes dipped in chocolate. Decorate with vanilla frosting ribbons and candy eyes for a fun Halloween look. Ready in under an hour, they're perfect for parties or baking with kids.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Prepare a baking sheet by covering it with parchment paper. Arrange the snack cakes on the sheet. Dip one end of each lollipop stick into the melted chocolate, then push that end into a snack cake. Refrigerate the sheet until the chocolate sets, about 5 minutes.
  2. Submerge each snack cake entirely in the melted chocolate, then place it back on the prepared baking sheet. Chill in the refrigerator for 10–15 minutes until the chocolate is firm.
  3. For the next part, spread the white crystal sugar in a shallow dish.
  4. Fill a piping bag fitted with a #104 petal tip with the vanilla frosting. Pipe bands of frosting around each chocolate-covered cake, rotating it to vary the direction of the ribbons. Keep about the top quarter of the cake exposed. Once piped, press the back of each cake into the sugar crystals so the frosting doesn't stick to the paper.
  5. Attach two candy buttons to the exposed chocolate area at the top of each cake using small dabs of frosting. These will be the eyes. Use a black food coloring marker or a brush with black food color to add pupils to the candy buttons.
  6. Add more decorations by placing candy bug sprinkles on the frosting. Dust extra crystal sugar over the top. Allow the pops to sit until the frosting sets, or refrigerate them for about 15 minutes.
  7. Serve the finished cake pops on a tray or wrap them individually in cellophane bags secured with ribbon for gifting.
