This project guides you through painting plain ceramic or resin pumpkins with acrylics, adding a metallic sheen, and applying gold leaf to the stems for a luxurious fall decoration.
You'll need
Directions
- Apply your preferred acrylic hue to the entire surface of the ceramic or resin pumpkin.
- After the initial coat has fully cured, add a layer of metallic paint to create a subtle luster.
- Lightly drag a dry brush loaded with copper metallic paint across the pumpkin's surface.
- Paint the stems with a base color to serve as a visual guide, making the adhesive application more visible.
- Use a fine-tipped brush to carefully spread the leaf size adhesive over the painted stems.
- Wait for the adhesive to become tacky before proceeding to the next stage.
- Grasp the gold leaf sheets by the tissue layers and gently lay them over the sticky adhesive.
- Gently press the gold leaf into place using a stiff brush, such as a stencil brush, allowing excess to fall away where no adhesive was applied.
