Create a Frankenstein hat from green felt with neck bolts and a scar, topped with faux fur. Pair it with jagged black sweatpants, a gray tee, and a dark jacket for a complete costume that’s adorable and simple to make.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Cut a rectangle of green felt that is long enough to wrap around the child's head and between 12 and 16 inches wide.
  2. Fold the rectangle in half lengthwise so the height becomes 6 to 8 inches. Glue the sides together to form a cylinder.
  3. Cut two additional green felt pieces, each about 6 inches wide and 8 inches long, to create the neckpiece.
  4. Glue one strip to the inside of each side of the hat. Attach silver-painted spools to the middle of each strip to serve as neck bolts. You'll tuck the ends inside the shirt or jacket later.
  5. From the scrap red felt, cut a scar shape and glue it onto the hat.
  6. Lay faux fur across the top of the hat and glue it in place around the edges. Trim the fur to your desired style.
  7. Dress the child in the black sweatpants, and cut jagged edges along the bottom.
  8. Finish with the gray T-shirt and dark sports jacket on top.
