This guide walks you through hosting a festive Halloween trivia night using a Jeopardy-style format. You will learn how to structure teams based on your guest count, manage the scoring and buzzing mechanics, and transition smoothly through the standard, double-value, and final rounds to create an engaging and competitive game night for your party.

Directions

  1. Organize your participants into groups depending on how many people are joining: individuals can compete if there are five or fewer players, teams of two to four work best for groups between six and twenty, and larger gatherings of twenty-one or more should also play as individuals but with prizes to keep things exciting.
  2. Kick off the competition by announcing the first clue, which is worth two hundred dollars and located in the leftmost column of your game board.
  3. The first group to sound their buzzer earns the right to respond; a correct answer awards them the two hundred dollars and grants them the privilege of selecting the next clue.
  4. Should the initial responder get it wrong, their total score decreases by the value of that clue, opening the floor for other groups to buzz in and attempt the answer.
  5. Continue this pattern until every clue in the opening round has been revealed, then rearrange your board to prepare for the second phase.
  6. Launch into the second round where all point values are doubled, featuring four hundred, eight hundred, twelve hundred, sixteen hundred, and two thousand dollar clues, while maintaining the original gameplay mechanics.
  7. Conclude the event with the final round by announcing only the category title, giving contestants time to place their bets, revealing the final clue, and allowing sixty seconds for them to record their responses.
