Create a spooky chic Halloween display on a budget with a painted pumpkin, lace, and potion bottles.
Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at starshinechic.com.
This project transforms a cheap faux pumpkin into an elegant Heirloom White decoration wrapped in black spider web lace. Wood pedestals and glass bottles with custom labels add a witchy apothecary vibe, all for very little money.
You'll need
Directions
- Get an orange faux pumpkin (for instance, from Dollar Tree) and coat it with spray paint in Heirloom White.
- Cut a 20-inch by 20-inch square of black spider web lace, then clip a small slit at its center.
- Wrap the lace around the pumpkin, poke the stem through the slit, and secure the lace at the bottom using tape or hot glue.
- If needed, paint a wood pedestal black to create a base for the pumpkin.
- Find and print Halloween-themed labels (e.g., 'Twisted Twigs', 'Witch Hazel', 'Graveyard Dust') from online sources like Flickr.
- Cut out the printed labels and tape them onto glass bottles.
- Fill the labeled bottles with appropriate items, such as weeping willow twigs, or leave them empty or with ashes as you prefer.
- Arrange the painted pumpkin on the pedestal and place the bottles on a shelf to finish the frugal Halloween decor.
