Transform pint mason jars into Halloween decorations by spray painting them black and adding vinyl window cutouts. Inside, create three different scenes: a spider web with a fake spider, a ghost with a trick-or-treat bucket, and a black cat behind a miniature fence. All elements are secured with hot glue for a lasting display.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Cut the adhesive vinyl into an oval shape using scissors, then stick it onto the smooth side of a pint mason jar. Press down the edges firmly to ensure good adhesion.
  2. Spray paint the entire jar and the lid black. Let the paint dry completely, then carefully peel off the vinyl. If the vinyl sticks, use a craft knife to cut around it before lifting.
  3. Use a 3D black paint writer to outline the window shape left by the vinyl on the jar. Allow the paint to dry fully before moving on.
  4. Now it's time to create spooky scenes inside each jar. Here are three different ideas you can try.
  5. For the first jar, add fake spider webbing inside and place a fake spider on it. Use hot glue to secure everything in place.
  6. For the second jar, create a ghost by covering a small foam ball (attached to a popsicle stick) with a white fabric scrap. Draw a face on the fabric with a marker. Glue the ghost inside the jar along with a miniature pumpkin trick-or-treat bucket. Add a small piece of spider webbing at the bottom.
  7. For the third jar, make a fence by cutting a miniature basket into a long strip. Place it inside the jar along with a miniature black cat. Add a piece of cheesecloth in the back and some black cloth at the bottom. Secure everything with hot glue.
