Ingredients
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 13x9-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, and hot water, then mix until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and tap it gently to release any air bubbles.
- Bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool for about 20 minutes, then poke holes all over with a straw or the handle of a wooden spoon.
- Microwave the caramel dip for about 2 minutes until melted, then pour it over the cake and spread it gently, pushing it into the holes.
- In a medium bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Add the powdered sugar, cocoa, and a pinch of salt, and mix well.
- Add 2 tablespoons of heavy cream and mix. If the frosting is too thick, add more cream 1 tablespoon at a time until desired consistency.
- Frost the cake with the chocolate frosting, then decorate with sprinkles and Halloween-themed decorations.
