Halloween Crack features a base of saltine crackers coated with a buttery brown sugar toffee, baked until bubbly, then topped with melted chocolate and a festive assortment of candies. After chilling, it’s broken into crunchy, sweet-and-salty pieces perfect for parties or gifting. Store any leftovers in the freezer for a treat that lasts.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Set your oven to 350°F.
  2. Put parchment paper on a baking tray and arrange saltine crackers in neat rows.
  3. In a saucepan, combine butter and brown sugar, heat until melted, then bring to a boil. Let it boil for 2 to 3 minutes while stirring nonstop until the mixture thickens.
  4. Pour the hot butter-sugar mixture over the crackers and use a rubber spatula to spread it evenly.
  5. Bake for 4 to 5 minutes or until it turns brown and bubbly.
  6. Take the pan out and scatter chocolate chips over the top.
  7. Allow the chips to soften for 5 minutes, then use a rubber spatula to spread the melted chocolate into an even layer.
  8. Decorate with your favorite Halloween candies: we used candy eyes, Halloween sprinkles, Reese's Pieces, and candy corn.
  9. Refrigerate until the chocolate is firm, at least 1 to 2 hours.
  10. Break the sheet into irregular pieces and serve. Keep leftovers in a freezer-safe zip-top bag.
