These Halloween deviled eggs get their creepy look from cracked shells soaked in food coloring, creating a marbled effect. The classic filling is tinted to match, making them perfect for a festive party platter.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Use the back of a spoon or roll the eggs on the counter to create fine cracks all over the shells, keeping the shells intact.
  2. Fill a container with enough water to submerge the eggs, then stir in your chosen food coloring until well mixed.
  3. Place the cracked eggs into the colored water, adding more water if needed to fully cover them.
  4. Seal the container with a lid or plastic wrap.
  5. Refrigerate the eggs for at least 3 hours, or let them soak overnight for deeper color.
  6. After soaking, remove the eggs and rinse them with water and a splash of white vinegar to set the color.
  7. Carefully peel the eggs and discard the shells.
  8. Slice each egg in half lengthwise and gently pop out the yolks into a mixing bowl.
  9. Mash the yolks with mayonnaise, mustard, apple cider vinegar, salt, and pepper. If desired, add a drop of food coloring to tint the yolk mixture.
  10. Spoon or pipe the yolk mixture back into the egg white halves.
  11. For a finishing touch, sprinkle with paprika, chia seeds, or parsley.
  12. Chill the deviled eggs before serving.
