Whip up spooky monster witch cupcakes with black and orange frosting and creepy candy eyes.
Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at neuroticmommy.com.
These Halloween cupcakes start with an organic chocolate cake mix baked in black liners. Once cooled, top with homemade or store-bought frosting dyed black and orange, then decorate with candy eyes and other fun creepy toppings for a delightfully scary treat.
Ingredients
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and place black cupcake liners into your muffin tins.
- Give each liner a light coating of non-stick spray like coconut oil spray.
- Combine all wet ingredients in a bowl, then add the chocolate cake mix and beat until smooth.
- Fill each liner about three-quarters full with batter and bake for 20-22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean; oven times can vary so check for doneness.
- Once baked, take the cupcakes out and let them cool completely before you add any frosting.
- In separate bowls, prepare your frosting: dye one batch orange and another black (or pick any colors you like).
- Transfer the frostings to piping bags and pipe onto the cooled cupcakes however you like—no need for perfection. Alternatively, use a spatula or the back of a spoon to spread the frosting.
- Top the cupcakes with candy eyes and other spooky decorations however you wish; the more chaotic and eerie, the better. Get creative and enjoy your monster witch cupcakes!
