Make homemade Halloween popcorn balls with dark and white chocolate, no corn syrup needed. Simply coat popcorn in melted chocolate, shape into balls in a muffin tin, and decorate with candy eyes and sprinkles. Chill until firm for a fun, festive snack.
Ingredients
Directions
- Prepare a muffin tin by placing 12 silicone liners inside. Alternatively, use a silicone muffin pan or wrap each cup of a standard tin with plastic wrap.
- Add 2 cups of popped popcorn to a large bowl.
- Put the dark chocolate chips into a small microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second bursts, stirring between each, until fully melted and smooth. Watch closely so the chocolate doesn't scorch.
- Pour the melted dark chocolate over the popcorn and stir gently with a rubber spatula until every piece is coated.
- While the chocolate is still warm, divide the coated popcorn evenly among 6 of the lined muffin cups, pressing gently to shape into balls.
- Add your favorite edible decorations on top, pressing lightly so they stick to the chocolate.
- Use a clean large bowl and add the remaining 2 cups of popcorn.
- Place the white chocolate chips in a small microwave-safe bowl. Melt in the microwave using 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until silky. Take care not to overheat.
- Pour the white chocolate over the popcorn and mix until coated. Spoon the mixture into the last 6 muffin cups, shaping into balls. Decorate as desired, pressing decorations gently into the white chocolate.
- Refrigerate the muffin tin for 15-20 minutes until the chocolate is firm. Remove the popcorn balls from the liners. Enjoy right away or keep in an airtight container in the fridge for several days.
