Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at hgtv.com.
This DIY game converts a TV box into a fun pumpkin patch where kids reach through cutout pumpkins to grab treats from felt-covered mailers. Perfect for Halloween parties, it's easy to build with cardboard, kraft paper, and orange felt. The game adds an interactive twist to trick-or-treating.

Directions
- Start by cutting a piece of kraft paper to match the front dimensions of your TV box (ours was 36.5" x 21.5"). Fold the paper in half vertically and horizontally to mark the centers, then fold the top and bottom edges to the center crease. This creates eight equal sections to help plan your box layout.
- Create a 5.5" x 5.5" square template from card stock. Place it on the kraft paper and trace around it to mark positions for each square mailing box, ensuring at least a 1" border between them. Write "top" at the top of the paper, then carefully cut out the traced squares with a craft knife or scissors, leaving the surrounding frame intact.
- Attach the kraft paper template to the front of the TV box using tape, aligning the top correctly. Inside each square cutout, draw a pumpkin shape onto the box below. Remove the template and use a craft knife to cut out the pumpkin shapes from the cardboard.
- Flip the template over and position it on the back of the TV box, matching the top edge. Use a permanent marker to trace the square openings onto the back panel, then cut them out with a craft knife. Finally, paint the entire outside of the box with flat black paint.
- Trim the flaps of your 12 square mailing boxes down to 1 inch tall. Cut 12 pieces of orange felt, each 6" x 7". Apply glue to the outside flap of each box, press a felt piece onto it, and secure with clothespins until dry. These felt flaps will cover the openings.
