Spider Bread Dip Bowl {fun Halloween appetizer idea!} - It's Always Autumn
PHOTO · ITSALWAYSAUTUMN.COM

This Halloween spider bread dip bowl starts with frozen dinner rolls shaped into a spider and baked until golden. After cooling, it's hollowed out to hold cold dip, and the olive eyes give it a spooky face. Serve with veggies for a fun party snack.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Place the frozen rolls on a work surface and give them a light coating of nonstick spray. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and let them thaw until soft but still cold, which takes about 2 hours.
  2. Take two rolls and form them into a small ball for the spider's head. Use ten rolls to shape a larger ball for the spider's body.
  3. Cut the remaining four rolls in half, making one half a bit larger than the other. Roll each half into a rope, creating four ropes that are 12 inches long and four that are 10 inches long.
  4. On a parchment-lined baking sheet, arrange the balls and ropes into the shape of a spider.
  5. Spray the assembled spider with nonstick spray and cover loosely with plastic wrap. Let it rise until nicely puffed, about one hour. While it rises, preheat the oven to 350°F.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk the egg white with the water. Brush this mixture all over the spider. If you like, sprinkle the legs with grated Parmesan cheese.
  7. Bake the spider for 28 to 30 minutes until it's quite brown. Allow it to cool completely.
  8. With a knife, cut small slits for the eyes and press an olive slice into each slit.
  9. Cut a circle out of the body area, then tear out the bread inside to create a bowl. Fill with cold dip, surround with veggies, and serve.
