These lucky black cat pretzels are a fun Halloween treat made by filling pretzel twists with chocolate and decorating with candy ears, eyes, and pink noses. Sprinkles add texture, while painted pupils and licorice whiskers bring the cats to life. The treats need about an hour to set, or you can speed it up in the fridge.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Arrange the pretzel twists in neat rows on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave using 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth (about 1 minute total). Pour the melted chocolate into a disposable piping bag and snip off the tip (a zip-top bag with a corner cut off works too). Pipe chocolate into each pretzel's openings, covering the interior completely. Use an offset spatula to level the surface.
  3. Cut each chocolate square into four equal triangles. Place two triangles on the upper part of each pretzel to form cat ears, pressing gently into the chocolate. Put two green candy-coated chocolate pieces just below the ears for eyes.
  4. Add a pink hard candy heart in the middle of each pretzel to serve as the cat's nose.
  5. Spoon chocolate sprinkles over the pretzels and let them sit until the chocolate is firm, about 1 hour. To speed things up, refrigerate the baking sheet for about 15 minutes. Once set, pick up each pretzel and tap off the extra sprinkles.
  6. Use a fine-tipped artist's brush and black food coloring to paint tiny pupils onto the green candy eyes.
  7. Cut the chocolate licorice whips into thin strands with kitchen scissors. Dip one end of each strand in melted chocolate and attach them next to the pink heart candies to create whiskers. Allow to dry for 10-15 minutes before serving.
