These Halloween witch cupcakes are made using chocolate cake mix, sugar cones, and cookies to create adorable witch hats. After baking and frosting the cupcakes, you dip cookies and cones in melted chocolate, assemble the hats, and decorate with sprinkles, eyes, and a jellybean nose. The result is a festive and fun dessert perfect for Halloween parties.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Follow the chocolate cake mix instructions to bake the cupcakes, then let them cool completely.
  2. Combine 10–12 oz of chocolate chips with 1–2 tablespoons of vegetable shortening and melt together, stirring until smooth, to create a thin dipping chocolate.
  3. Dip each flat cookie and each sugar ice cream cone into the melted chocolate. Place them on a tray and refrigerate until the chocolate sets.
  4. Once the cupcakes are cool, spread frosting on top, alternating colors as you like.
  5. Pipe a ring of frosting around the open end of a cone, then press it onto the center of a chocolate-dipped cookie to form the witch hat.
  6. Pipe frosting around the joint where the cookie and cone meet, then cover that frosting band with Halloween sprinkles.
  7. Use gray frosting to pipe a strand of hair on one side of the cupcake.
  8. Place the assembled witch hat on top of the cupcake, covering the hair slightly.
  9. Finish by attaching edible decorative eyes and a jellybean nose to the cupcake.
