Ingredients
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Unroll the pie crust and let it sit until room temperature. Use a round cookie cutter to stamp out circles for the pasties. Gather any leftover dough, reroll it with a rolling pin to flatten, and cut out additional circles.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, ground cloves, and a pinch of salt. Stir until well blended. Spoon about half a tablespoon of this filling into the center of each dough circle.
- Dip your fingertips in water and run them along the edges of each pastry. Fold the pastry over to enclose the filling and gently press the edges together to seal.
- Brush the tops of the pasties with the egg wash (1 egg whisked with 1 tablespoon of water). Cut a few small slits on top of each pasty to allow steam to escape. Arrange them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the pasties are golden brown.
- While the pasties are baking, mix the powdered sugar and milk together in a small bowl until you have a smooth, runny icing.
- Remove the pasties from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy them warm, or drizzle with the icing.
