Learn to craft a Jack Skellington–style pumpkin door decoration using EVA foam. This project captures the tree-textured look from the movie with simple painting and carving techniques. Hang it up to welcome trick-or-treaters in style.
You'll need
Directions
- Cut a pumpkin silhouette from 2mm EVA foam. You can freehand it or project an image from the movie and trace it onto the foam.
- Draw the pumpkin's facial features lightly onto the foam with a pencil.
- Use the blunt end of a paintbrush or a pen to press lines into the foam, mimicking the bark-like texture seen in the film.
- Paint the pumpkin body. Mix various orange shades, making one side lighter to match the movie's lighting. For the face cutouts, use a dark brown. Paint the stem a rich forest green.
- Create the nose by cutting three triangles from foam. Stack and glue them together, then paint the stack beige. Allow to dry.
- Attach the nose to the pumpkin with hot glue.
- Secure the finished piece to your door using nails or an appropriate hanging method for your surface.
