This project transforms a faux pumpkin into a festive candy holder. You'll cut the pumpkin in half using a yarn guide, then line the base with burlap and fill it with treats. Perfect for Halloween parties or trick-or-treaters.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Insert one thumbtack near the center of the artificial pumpkin to anchor the end of a 1-yard piece of yarn or thin rope.
  2. Wrap the yarn around the pumpkin horizontally, keeping it as even as possible, and secure the free end with a second thumbtack right next to the first. Use the yarn as a guide to lightly draw a pencil line around the entire pumpkin, then remove the tacks and yarn.
  3. With an X-Acto or pumpkin-carving knife, carefully cut along the pencil line to separate the pumpkin into top and bottom halves. To ensure proper alignment later, note the large vertical seam on one side of the pumpkin. Line the bottom half with 1/2 yard of burlap or fall-themed fabric, then fill with Halloween candy.
