This guide walks you through building a miniature haunted home on a pumpkin using natural materials like twigs, pinecones, and moss, along with simple craft supplies such as glue, wax paper, and paint.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Construct a miniature entrance by adhering several twigs together to form a flat, rectangular frame. Once the adhesive has set, carefully trim the wood to achieve your desired doorway shape. Attach a small wooden bead, stone, or button to serve as a handle.
  2. Form window panes by cutting translucent wax paper into your preferred shapes. Frame these panes by gluing slender twigs along the edges. For added depth, adhere a layer of dark fabric or additional wax paper to the reverse side, and apply a waterproof sealant if you wish to protect the piece.
  3. Attach the finished windows and door to the pumpkin's surface. Using a hot glue gun is advised, as this method allows you to detach the components later if needed.
  4. Cover the pumpkin's apex to create a roof. You can simply press moss onto the top for a rapid solution, or craft a layered shingled effect by peeling scales from pinecones and gluing them individually, starting at the base and overlapping each piece as you work upward.
  5. Incorporate spooky accents to enhance the eerie atmosphere. For instance, fashion a witch's broom by bundling raffia, straw, or feathers around a stick with string and adhesive.
