Directions
- Using a 1-inch artist brush, paint a thin layer of leaf adhesive over the entire pumpkin except for the stem. Let it sit until the adhesive turns clear and tacky—about 10 minutes. After that, brush over it once more to smooth out any drips.
- Work from the top of the pumpkin downwards, carefully laying full sheets of your chosen metallic leaf onto the adhesive. Gently smooth each sheet with your fingertip or a 2-inch chip brush. Continue until all the raised areas are covered.
- Once the raised parts are done, press small fragments of leaf into the recessed areas using your finger or a brush. When the entire pumpkin is coated, buff the surface with a chip brush in circular motions to dislodge any loose leaf. A vacuum brush attachment is also effective for cleanup.
- For added visual interest, press decorative upholstery tacks into the pumpkin in your chosen pattern—try geometric shapes like stripes or chevrons, a monogram, or a seasonal word. These tacks are available at craft and sewing stores in the upholstery section. Simply push them in gently with your fingertip.
