These Pumpkin Patch Cupcakes are perfect for Halloween! Chocolate cupcakes are topped with orange frosting, a pretzel stick stem, and green frosting vines. Quick and fun to make using cake mix and store-bought frosting.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Mix the cake mix, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and eggs together in a stand mixer bowl. Line your cupcake tins with white liners and fill each about two-thirds full with batter. Bake at 350°F for 14 to 16 minutes. Once done, gently take the cupcakes out of the tins and let them cool on a wire rack.
  2. Scoop 2 and a half cans of vanilla frosting into a bowl. Stir in a little orange icing color to create orange frosting; you can add more for a deeper shade. In a separate bowl, put the leftover half can of frosting and mix in a bit of leaf green icing color to make green frosting, adjusting the amount for your preferred intensity.
  3. Snip a hole in the bottom of a 16-ounce frosting bag (or a corner of a gallon ziploc bag) large enough to fit the Wilton 1M star tip. Fill the bag with orange frosting and pipe it onto each cupcake using a circular motion. Press a pretzel stick into the center of every cupcake. Cut a very small hole in one corner of a plastic sandwich bag, fill it with green frosting, and pipe little vines on the cupcakes. Serve and enjoy!
