This Halloween dessert combines a simple yellow sheet cake with a maple-flavored frosting. To mimic the iconic string lights from the show, you'll pipe three lines of black gel icing, arrange Peanut M&Ms as bulbs, and add alphabet letters underneath each light. It's a spooky and fun treat perfect for a Halloween party or Stranger Things viewing.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Heat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease and flour a 12-by-17-inch jelly roll pan. Mix the yellow cake batter following the box directions, then bake according to those instructions until a tester inserted in the center emerges clean. Let the cake cool completely.
  3. For the maple frosting, cream the softened butter in a large bowl until pale and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until incorporated. Beat in milk, maple extract, and salt. If the consistency is too thick, add milk 1 tablespoon at a time. Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled cake.
  4. Use black gel frosting to pipe three horizontal lines across the cake—one near the top, one in the middle, and one near the bottom—to represent string light wires. Arrange Peanut M&Ms along each line: 8 on the top line, 9 on the middle, and 9 on the bottom, acting as light bulbs. Under each M&M, pipe a single letter of the alphabet. Slice and serve.
