Make adorable turkey cupcakes using chocolate cake mix, buttercream frosting, and fun candy decorations. Pipe a two-tier dollop of frosting, then add pretzel tail feathers, candy corn beak, M&Ms wings, and candy eyes. They're simple to assemble and sure to be a hit at your holiday gathering.
Ingredients
Directions
- Heat your oven to 350°F. Line two 12-cup muffin tins with paper liners. Prepare the cupcake batter following the box directions.
- Scoop the batter into the liners. Bake according to package instructions, then let the cupcakes cool completely.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with a hand mixer (or in a stand mixer with paddle attachment) until light and fluffy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder in batches, beating after each addition. Mix in the vanilla, heavy cream, and salt. For a thinner consistency, add an extra tablespoon of cream.
- Fit a pastry bag with a ½-inch round tip and fill with frosting. Pipe one large dollop for the body and a smaller one on top for the head.
- For the tail, stick two pretzels into the back of the cupcake, then place four candy corn pieces in front of them. Add one candy corn to the small dollop for the beak, and press three brown M&Ms on each side for wings.
- Finish by placing two candy eyes above the beak.
