These witch cupcakes feature a purple fondant hat resting on a yellow-frosted face. Licorice hair, gumdrop noses, and candy eyes bring each cupcake to life, while the hat is assembled from a fondant cone and brim over a chocolate wafer cookie. Let the hat pieces dry overnight for best results.
Ingredients
Directions
- Roll purple fondant to 1/8 inch thick. Cut twelve 2½-inch circles. Drape each circle over a chocolate wafer cookie to form the hat brim.
- Create twelve cone shapes from aluminum foil. Cut the rolled purple fondant into twelve 5-inch triangles. Wrap each triangle around a foil cone, trimming to fit, and seal the back with a tiny bit of water. Optionally, bend the tip of the hat.
- Save leftover fondant wrapped in plastic. Let the hats dry for a minimum of 24 hours. Then remove the foil and attach the hat top to the brim. Form small yellow fondant strips for buckles and attach them to the hats. Use small dabs of leftover frosting to stick star-shaped sprinkles onto the hats.
- Take the paper liners off the cupcakes. Mix yellow food coloring into the vanilla frosting. Frost the tops and sides of the cupcakes, then set each on a chocolate wafer cookie.
- Cut black licorice laces into pieces and press them onto the cupcakes for hair. Use leftover purple fondant to cut eye shapes and attach them. Add Halloween confetti sprinkles as pupils. Form noses from small gumdrop pieces and attach them to the cupcakes.
- Pipe mouths using red decorating frosting. Place the finished hats on top of the cupcakes.
