These witch hat Halloween cupcakes combine a green cake base with a candy-coated sugar cone hat. Purple frosting and an orange icing band add a festive finish. They're easy to make using a cake mix and simple decorations.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Set your oven to 350°F. Line a muffin pan with cupcake papers.
  2. Prepare the cake mix as directed on the box, then stir in several drops of green food coloring. Bake the batter following the package's cupcake directions, and let the cupcakes cool completely.
  3. Put the black candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in the microwave at 50% power for 60-second bursts, stirring between each, until fully melted and smooth. Submerge each sugar cone in the melted candy, then set them on a wire rack to set.
  4. Combine the vanilla frosting with a few drops of purple food coloring in a bowl. Frost each cupcake with a thin layer of purple frosting. Press a candy-coated sugar cone onto the center of each cupcake, then pipe a ring of orange decorating icing around the base of the cone.
  5. These cupcakes are ready to serve. Keep any uneaten ones in a sealed container.
