This project guides you through applying X-ray prints to black cloth using a photo transfer medium, then sewing the treated fabric into a stuffed pillow for a unique Halloween accent.
You'll need
Directions
- Start by making copies of your chosen X-ray photos on a copier that uses dry toner.
- Spread the Mod Podge Photo Transfer Medium evenly over the printed side of each copy.
- Lay the treated paper face-down onto your black cloth, smoothing it flat. Let everything set for a full day.
- Dampen the back of the paper with a wet sponge and wait roughly two minutes. Gently rub the surface in small circles to lift away the paper backing, repeating until only the ink remains on the fabric.
- Cut the transferred image down to an 8 by 10 inch rectangle, then cut a matching piece of black fabric to the same dimensions.
- Align the two pieces with their good sides facing each other and stitch around the edges using a quarter-inch seam, leaving one edge open. Flip the pillowcase through that gap, fill it with stuffing, and sew the hole shut.
